PRONUNCIATION AND INTONATION
Pronunciation refers to a way a word or language is spoken, or in the manner in which someone speaks a word.let me give an example..
if someone speaks a word SANGEETA as "SHANGEETA"
then that person has a problem with pronunciation.
WELL!! don't get panic if you have that problem..
there is a number of ways by which you can improve your pronunciation.
you can practice a tongue twister daily to overcome that problem.
one tongue twister I am giving here:-
"SHE SELLS SEASHELLS BY THE SEA-SHORE"
PRACTICE IT DAILY TO MAKE YOUR PRONUNCIATION WELL!!
Furthermore, if your pronunciation is already good then let move you to one above step:-
INTONATION:-
Well! Intonation is the rising and falling sounds of the voice when speaking.
Many people think that pronunciation is what makes up an accent. It may be that pronunciation is very important for an understandable accent.BUT it the intonation that gives the final touch that makes an accent native!
So you should know where to put stress while speaking then u will look like a genuine speaker.
one thing you should remember that WE CAN ONLY STRESS VOWELS NOT CONSONANTS! and ONE word has only one stress, but add stress naturally to your speaking words.
One more thing! Words are divided into Syllables.let me explain!
a word "AIRWAY" is two syllable word, means it has two divisions "AIR-WAY".
Okay, I thing syllable is clear to you now!
RULES FOR STRESSING WORDS:-
SO moving on, we usually give stress to the first syllable while speaking NOUN and ADJECTIVE.
EXAMPLE:- PREsent, EXport.
and we stress on the second syllable while speaking a VERB.
EXAMPLE:- to preSENT, to exPORT.
